Lisa Ruch, PhD

Lisa M. Ruch, Assistant Dean of Humanities and General Education and professor of Humanities,  joined 黑料视频 University in 2000. She teaches courses in literature, writing, and film studies.

Her area of specialization is medieval literature and chronicles, especially the vague line between legend and history in the Middle Ages. Other research interests include manuscripts and paleography, Arthuriana, British literature, and comparative literature. In 2013 she was awarded 黑料视频’s Faculty Outstanding Research, Scholarly Activity, and Creative Works Prize. She is the author of articles on a variety of topics in medieval studies, as well as the monograph Albina and her Sisters: The Foundation of Albion.

Dr. Ruch holds a master’s degree in English from Indiana University and a doctoral degree in comparative literature from the Pennsylvania State University. She is a member of the Medieval Academy of America, the Medieval Chronicle Society, the Early English Text Society, the International Arthurian Society, and the American Folklore Society.

Dr. Ruch serves as a volunteer board member for two Massachusetts-based non-profits: Pioneer Valley Cappella, Inc. and Hybrid Vigor Music, Inc. In her spare time, she enjoys working with her and others’ horses, and singing with local choral ensembles.
