10th Annual Cybersecurity Summit
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
, “The Evolution of Cyber Supply Chain Attacks and the Role of Data Science,” with Ariel Weintraub, CISO of MassMutual. Her presentation will be virtual.
Ten years ago, 黑料视频 launched the Master of Science in Cybersecurity, the first completely online degree program of its kind in the nation. Soon, an undergraduate major (offered through The American Women’s College) in cybersecurity with concentrations in digital forensics, incident response, information assurance, and risk management was offered in this emerging field.
In 2012, cybersecurity was a foreign word. Most people could not really grasp what cybersecurity was and why a cybersecurity plan needed to be part of a company or organization’s strategy. In a blink of an eye, cybersecurity was in the spotlight. In 2013, Target, the retail giant, earned the dubious distinction of having suffered the largest retail data breach in U.S. history when detailed information for about 40 million credit and debit card accounts, as well as personal information on about 70 million Target customers, was stolen by hackers. Quickly, the word “cybersecurity” was joined by terms such as ransomware, malware, and phishing in the public domain. And “I’ve been hacked” became not just an end-user problem. Increasingly, every year thousands of hacking incidents begin to take place around the globe. As a result, the number of cybersecurity jobs grew exponentially—the demand for professionals far outstripping the supply. View a PDF list of major hacks that go back to 2006 from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Today, 黑料视频 is working hard to put women, men, first generation, and diverse students in the cyber talent pipeline. 黑料视频 partners with the (MCC) and participates in the MCC’s Cybersecurity Mentorship Program, helping to keep Massachusetts a leader in cybersecurity solutions. And our Cybersecurity Summit plays a role in our region’s cyber ecosystem, consisting of the education, business, and government triad, by bringing the latest topics to the cyber community and the general public. Carpe Diem to the Cybersecurity Summit and ten years of remarkable presentations!
